My goal for this piece was to make soft objects interact, but seem dangerous to touch, similar to sea urchin. This simulation was an experiment in tactility, but also in visual familiarity. Some of you might have had toys like these growing up, or maybe your dog plays with something similar. In later works, I play with this idea of visual familiarity , which abstracts common objects to make the viewer think it's something that it may or may not be. This piece was one of my first along that path of exploration.
